Description of the course
Target group
The target group for the Service Lift User Module training is personnel working on WTGs within the wind industry where the use of lifts is required for transportation of personnel and equipment inside the WTG.
Course Aim and Objective
The aim of GWO Service Lift User Module training is to enable the participant to use a lift in a WTG safely and correctly. The training will provide the participant with knowledge of multiple guiding systems and lift types in WTG. Furthermore, the participant will learn how to perform the necessary pre-use inspections and emergency actions, as well as when to seek guidance from manuals.

The overall learning objective of this module is the participants can:
1) Take responsibility for using a WTG lift correctly and safely independently and will on their own initiative seek guidance when needed (Ability, Intermediate level)

Duration (at training centre):
The duration of SLU training is 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Course contents
Lesson 1 – Introduction to the training;
Lesson 2 – Legislation and manuals;
Lesson 3 – General use of lifts;
Lesson 4 – Inspection of lift prior to use;
Lesson 5 – Operation of lift;
Lesson 6 – Evacuation from lift;
Lesson 7 – Shutdown after use;
Lesson 8 – Training review.
Training approaches and equipment:
  • Theoretical tasks with presentations and visualizations (conducted in classroom or through online learning);
  • Group workshops;
  • Case studies;
  • Practical exercises in workshops using Virtual Reality (VR) equipment;
  • Practical simulations using VR headsets to replicate real-life scenarios in a safe and controlled environment;
  • Professional instructors with extensive industry experience.
Course limitations:
The maximum number of participants is 12 persons for one instructor for theoretical and 6 persons for instructor for practical exercises.
Delegate prerequisites
  • The course participants shall be medically fit, appear well-rested and be capable of fully participating showing no signs of fatigue, substance abuse or sickness;
  • Participation in a course according to the GWO standards requires a special identification number for each participant. Each person must have this so-called “WINDA identification number (WINDA-ID)”.
