Description of the course
Course Objective
To provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate the ActSafe ACX powered ascender for vertical access, personal positioning, and working at height.

The duration of the ACX training is 1 day.

Course contents
Theoretical & System Knowledge:
  • Understanding of the ActSafe ACX powered ascender system;
  • Setup, inspection, and pre-use checks;
  • Anchor systems and rope configurations;
  • Limitations of the system and safe working parameters;
  • Battery management and basic maintenance;
  • Relevant safety standards (EN, IRATA, GWO references).

Work Methods & Personal Safety:
  • Vertical ascent and descent using the ACX (self-powered movement);
  • Work positioning and hands-free operation techniques;
  • Emergency lowering and self-rescue procedures.

Practical Skills Training:
  • Donning and adjustment of appropriate PPE and full-body harness;
  • Independent ascent using ACX with personal load;
  • Changeover to descent mode and safe stopping;
  • Transferring over edges and navigating obstacles;
  • Use of the ACX in a simulated confined space;
  • Fault simulation and emergency response drills.
Delegate prerequisites
To participate in this course, delegates must:
  • Complete a Medical Self-Assessment Form on-site confirming that they are fit to work at height and have no medical conditions that could affect their safety;
  • Have completed prior training in rope access or height safety, such as:
– GWO Working at Heights;
– IRATA Level 1 or equivalent;
– Any other recognized height safety training.

Note: This course does not cover basic work-at-height theory or fall arrest system use. Delegates are expected to already be familiar with PPE, anchor systems, and safe work practices at height.
