Target Audience
Marine engineers, engine officers, technical personnel involved in engine operations and maintenance.
Course Objective
To equip marine engineers and technical personnel with fundamental knowledge and practical understanding of MAN B&W electronically controlled ME engines. The course aims to develop competence in engine design and layout, electronic control systems, fuel and exhaust management, and fault diagnostics, enabling safe, efficient, and reliable engine operation onboard modern vessels.

Course contents
  • ME Engine Design & Control System Overview;
  • Hydraulic Power Supply (HPS) & Pumps;
  • Hydraulic Cylinder Unit (HCU) & FIVA Valve;
  • Exhaust Valve Actuation Systems;
  • Fuel Injection System & Pressure Boosters;
  • Engine Operation Interface & Maintenance;
  • Troubleshooting.
Training approaches and equipment:
The training course combines theory and practice. Theoretical lessons are delivered using PowerPoint presentations, while practical exercises are conducted on the Wärtsila TechSim9 simulator, featuring a ship model equipped with a MAN ME engine.
