Description of the course
Target group
The primary target group for this asbestos awareness training is marine engineers, including those who are newly qualified, as well as experienced engineers who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) as part of their work on ships or in shipyards. This training is also relevant for maintenance staff, safety officers, and anyone else involved in ship repair or maintenance where asbestos exposure could occur.

Course objectives
To ensure participants can recognize asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in their work environment to prevent exposure, provide knowledge on safe working practices and procedures when working in areas where asbestos is present or suspected; inform about the relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to asbestos management and worker protection in the maritime industry and prepare participants to effectively respond to asbestos exposure incidents or discoveries of undisturbed ACMs in the workplace.
