Combined Oil
and Chemical LICOS

Description of the course
An officer who works both oil and chemical cargoes needs two LICOS certificates. Booked separately that is eight days ashore. Combined, it is five.

Cargo and ballast work is taught the same way on both sides of the course. Participants plan and execute a cargo operation on the Wartsila TechSim (LCHS) simulator and then watch stability, line pressure and tank levels answer back, in normal operation and in emergency scenarios. Two models are used: a parcel tanker with submerged cargo pumps, and a conventional pumproom vessel with turbine pumps.

On successful completion participants receive the Oil Tanker LICOS Certificate and the Chemical Tanker LICOS Certificate. Both are valid for five years and meet STCW requirements.
