Manual Handling Refresher Training

Description of the course
Target group
  • Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or an offshore wind structure.
  • Personnel that perform job functions that has been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks.
Objectives of the course
The aim of this training is to refresh the participants prior experiences, knowledge, skills, and abilities to enable participants, through practical training, to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for wind technicians in the wind industry and enable participants to perform their tasks and activities in the safest possible way when working in a wind turbine environment.

After having successfully completed this Manual Handling Refresher Training, the participants will have the ability to:
  • Take responsibility for the use of essential manual handling principles to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury when performing physical tasks and activities in the wind industry (Ability, intermediate level)

Course contents
Lesson 1 - Introduction to training;
Lesson 2 - Manual Handling Skill Stations;
Lesson 3 - Manual Handling Scenarios;
Lesson 4 - Training review.

4 hours.

100 EUR per person.
Certificate validity
Certificate is valid 2 years.
Training approaches and equipment:
  • Theoretical tasks with presentations and visualizations;
  • Group workshops;
  • Case studies;
  • Practical exercises in workshops;
  • Practical exercises using real life equipment;
  • Professional instructors with industry experience

Any equipment used during this GWO training module shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the national standards in the country where the training is taking place. When working in a country where there is no applicable national standard then the equipment shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the European standards.
Delegate prerequisites
  • Trainees wishing to enter this course should be medically fit and capable of fully participating.
  • Participation in a course according to the GWO standards requires a special identification number for each participant. Each person must have this so-called “WINDA identification number (WINDA-ID)”.

Please register yourself or your employees with the Global Wind Organisation and provide us with your WINDA-ID or enter it directly when registering in our training portal.
Registering for your WINDA-ID is very simple and only requires you to enter your name.
Course limitations:
The maximum number of participants is 12 persons for one instructor for theoretical and 6 persons for instructor for practical exercises.
